Frequently Asked Questions

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

All praise and thank be to Allâh, and may Allâh’s peace, blessings, and salutations be upon the Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions and all those who follow their path in truth  till the Day of Judgment,  Ameen.

What is Free Qur’aan?

Free Qur'aan is a non-profit, UK registered Charity (No: 1137595) set up in January 2009.  Based in London and Birmingham, we have been providing free copies of the Noble Qur’aan to the UK and the rest of Europe, free of postage charge.  We occasionally fulfill orders from other non-Muslim countries as well, on a case by case basis.

Who orders from Free Qur’aan?

We receive requests from schools, colleges, prisons, and the general public  -people who are curious about Islam and want to read the Qur’aan.  We receive orders from Muslims and non-Muslims alike.

Why is it provided totally free of charge?

We believe that misconceptions of Islam - and misrepresentations of Islam - result from a pervading lack of awareness about the religion (often amongst the Muslim community).  Even for some Muslims who understand Islaam’s noble message and beautiful teachings, there is an inability on the part of many to articulate it and spread it amongst others.  Without calling people to join any group or party, it is our sincere desire to bridge that gap and promote an authentic understanding of Islaam amongst the community at large as understood by early Muslims.

We seek to remove every possible barrier that stands between the public and reading the Qur’aan.

How many copies of the Qur’aan have you supplied so far?

Alhamdulillah, we have posted out more than 24,000 copies in the English language.  We have also supplied over 1,000 in other languages.

How do we fund ourselves?

Every month, we manage to raise around £110 from a few brothers and sisters who donate regularly; may Allah reward them immensely.  This fund is used to post copies.

How many orders do we reject?

Due to lack of funds, we only fulfill approximately 30% of the orders we receive.  It costs £1.28 to post an order within the UK, £4.90 within Europe and Russia, and £6.80 for the rest of the world.  Therefore, we give priority to orders within the UK and greater Europe.  Some orders from other parts of the world are fulfilled on a case by case basis.

How can you meet the demand?

We need to raise at least £1000 a month to meet the postage demands of our current orders. Long term plans include supplying additional translations of the meaning of the Qur'aan, in Spanish, French, Chinese, Russian, Polish, and Hindi.

The current project

Currently, there remain around 3500 copies of the Qur'aan in stock.  Before our stock runs out, we’re working on our next batch of Noble Qur’aan translations.  We are raising £15,000 to print our next 10,000 copies from Italy on one of the best paper available called “biblical paper (33gpsm)”.  Delivery cost to UK is included in the printing cost.

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (ceaseless charity); knowledge which is beneficial; or a virtuous descendant who prays for him (the deceased).” [Sahih Muslim]
